TESTS ON BICYCLE COMPONENTS

For over a decade, STEP Lab has been a leader in the development of mechanical testing systems for the two-wheeled world, offering advanced solutions that meet the ever-increasing demands for safety, lightweight construction and optimisation of key components, both in metallic and composite materials.

New EA series

MAIN BICYCLE COMPONENTS

Testing bicycle components with STEP Lab testing systems ensures product safety and durability through precise load and fatigue testing.

SHOCK ABSORBERS

Evaluate and validate suspension components to ensure that design durability targets are met and warranty costs are minimised.

CHAIN

Evaluate and validate chain components to ensure that design life targets are met and warranty costs are minimised.

HANDLEBAR

As a connecting element to the bicycle, the handlebar defines important properties, such as vehicle dynamics, safety, riding comfort and ergonomics.

TIRES AND WHEELS

For force and moment measurements of the tire, characterization in a real-world context, and simulations of tread wear.

SADDLE

As a connecting element to the bike, the saddle defines important properties, such as vehicle comfort and safety.

CHASSIS

The frame defines important properties, such as vehicle dynamics, safety and ride comfort.

OUR BICYCLE TESTING SYSTEMS

UNIVERSAL BICYCLE TESTING SYSTEM (ISO 4210)

The universal bicycle testing system is a modular platform designed to perform various tests on the same bench. Thanks to its modularity, it allows you to test multiple components and configurations, optimising space, investment and testing time without compromising on accuracy and repeatability.

SHOCK ABSORBER TESTING MACHINES

Shock absorber testing machines enable controlled and repeatable testing of complete suspensions and sub-components. They allow analysis of dynamic behaviour, damping response and durability, supporting development, validation and quality control activities.

TYRE AND WHEEL TESTING SYSTEMS

Tyre and wheel testing machines allow static and dynamic loads representative of usage conditions to be simulated. The testing systems support the evaluation of the strength, stability and durability of the wheel assembly.

TESTING SYSTEMS FOR HANDLEBARS

Handlebar testing machines enable structural and fatigue testing to be performed on safety-critical components. The systems allow controlled, repeated loads to be applied, ensuring consistent results that comply with international standards such as ISO 4210.

CHAIN TESTING SYSTEMS

Chain testing machines are designed to apply static and cyclic loads accurately and reliably. They allow real-life conditions to be simulated, assessing fatigue resistance, elongation and component reliability over time.

DROP TOWERS FOR IMPACT TESTING ON CHASSIS AND COMPONENTS

Impact testing systems for bicycle frames and components enable structural and durability testing to be performed on complete frames or specific sections. The systems ensure accurate load control and support the validation of product performance and safety.

SYSTEMS FOR TESTING SADDLES

Saddle testing machines are designed to reproduce cyclic loads and prolonged use conditions. They allow mechanical strength, deformation and fatigue behaviour to be assessed in a controlled and repeatable manner.

CUSTOM TESTING SYSTEMS

Custom test systems are designed to precisely match the component, test method and customer requirements. They offer maximum flexibility in terms of configuration, loads and test cycles, supporting R&D, validation and special testing activities not covered by standard solutions.
